DroneSight ("DroneSight," "we," "us," or "our") operates getdronesight.com, the DroneSight Android application, the DroneSight public map, and a community-hosted receiver network for drone detection and public airspace awareness. This Privacy Policy explains the information processed through these services, how it is used, and the choices available to you. By submitting an application, using the app, or otherwise providing us information, you agree to the practices described below.
When you apply to become a beta tester or receiver host through our website or through advertisements on Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram Lead Ads), we may collect your name, email address, application responses, and communications with us.
We do not request or collect payment information or government identification through the beta application process.
The DroneSight app does not require an account or sign-in.
To provision a receiver, the app scans for nearby DroneSight devices over Bluetooth and displays Wi-Fi networks detected by the selected receiver. The Wi-Fi network name and password you select are transmitted directly from your phone to the receiver through the Espressif secure Bluetooth provisioning session.
DroneSight does not send Wi-Fi passwords to its servers or to Google Analytics, and the app does not retain Wi-Fi passwords after provisioning. The receiver itself must retain its Wi-Fi credentials to stay connected to the selected network.
The app stores limited information locally on your phone about the most recently provisioned receiver, including its gateway identifier, display name, most recent status, and last reported contact time. You can remove this local information at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.
When a DroneSight receiver communicates with our services, we may process gateway and receiver identifiers, timestamps, receiver health and status information, upload and record counts, network logs such as IP address and request time, configured receiver or map-site locations, and Remote ID observations detected by the receiver. We use this information to operate the receiver network, display drone activity, verify receiver connectivity, troubleshoot problems, maintain security, and improve network performance.
The DroneSight app requests foreground location permission only when you ask the map to show your phone's location, and does not access location in the background. Your phone's location is used to center the map and display a "Your location" marker; DroneSight does not store your raw GPS coordinates on its servers or include them in custom Analytics events.
The map uses OpenStreetMap tiles. When the map displays an area, OpenStreetMap receives normal tile requests that may include the requested map area, your IP address, device or browser information, and request time. OpenStreetMap's privacy practices are described in its privacy policy.
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the DroneSight app is used and to improve provisioning, receiver status, and map features. Google Analytics may automatically process a pseudonymous app-instance identifier, app lifecycle and session events, screen activity, app version, operating system and device information, language, and approximate geographic information derived from a masked IP address.
DroneSight may record general app events such as starting or completing a provisioning scan, Wi-Fi provisioning success or failure, backend confirmation, receiver-status refreshes, and use of the map-location button. DroneSight does not include names, email addresses, Wi-Fi network names, Wi-Fi passwords, gateway or receiver identifiers, or precise phone coordinates in its custom Analytics events. We configure the app not to collect the Android Advertising ID and do not use Analytics data for personalized advertising. We may also disclose information when required by law, or when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, security, or property of DroneSight, our users, or the public.
If you apply through a Facebook or Instagram Lead Ad, your name and email address are submitted to us directly through Meta's Lead Ads platform. This submission is also subject to Meta's own Data Policy, which governs how Meta collects and processes information on its platforms. We recommend reviewing Meta's policy to understand their practices separately from ours.

You may deny location permission and continue using the map without the phone-location marker. Bluetooth permission is necessary for receiver provisioning.
We retain beta application and support information for as long as reasonably necessary to evaluate applications, communicate with participants, support receiver hosts, meet legal requirements, and resolve disputes.
Receiver operational information and Remote ID observations are retained for the periods reasonably necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the DroneSight network. Different records may have different retention periods.
Google Analytics information is retained according to the retention settings in our Google Analytics account and Google's applicable policies. Wi-Fi passwords are not retained by the DroneSight app or sent to DroneSight servers.

Because the app does not require an account and Analytics uses pseudonymous identifiers, we may not always be able to associate Analytics records with a particular individual. To submit a request, contact us using the information below. Additional rights may apply depending on where you live.
DroneSight is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we've collected information from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete it promptly.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information. No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
We may update this Privacy Policy as the DroneSight services evolve. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
