These Receiver Host Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your participation in the DroneSight community
tracking network as a receiver host. By accepting, connecting, or hosting a DroneSight receiver device
("Device"), you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Hardware Ownership & Free Loan Agreement
- Property of DroneSight: The Device provided to you remains the exclusive property of DroneSight. It is provided to you as a free, voluntary loaner unit to assist in mapping local airspace.
- No Cost or Hidden Fees: There is zero cost to participate, and you will never be charged for hosting or using the Device.
- Voluntary Participation: Hosting a Device is 100% voluntary. You may opt out and disconnect the Device at any time.
2. Device Operation & Network Privacy
We respect your personal network security and household privacy. The Device is engineered to act
solely as a passive listener tuned to broadcasted aviation signals.
A. What the Device DOES NOT Do
- No Network Monitoring: The Device does not monitor, inspect, capture, or log any internet traffic, browsing history, or data packets on your home Wi-Fi or local network.
- No Device Scanning: The Device does not scan for, collect, or record information about other Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth devices, phones, or electronics in your household or neighborhood.
B. What the Device DOES Collect
- Public Airspace Signals: The Device captures publicly broadcasted radio frequency (RF) telemetry and Remote ID signals emitted by nearby drones and unmanned aircraft.
- Device Health Diagnostics: To ensure network uptime and troubleshoot hardware issues, the Device transmits basic operational metrics back to our servers. This includes internal device temperature, upload error logs, and the Wi-Fi signal strength (RSSI) of the network it is connected to. Wi-Fi signal strength is monitored solely to diagnose connectivity issues (e.g., determining whether a node went offline due to weak Wi-Fi signal vs. a hardware fault).
3. Airspace Data Ownership & Rights
All broadcasted drone flight data, telemetry, and airspace signals received by the Device and
transmitted to DroneSight are the exclusive property of DroneSight. DroneSight retains full rights to
aggregate, analyze, display, and publish this airspace data on its public and private flight tracking
maps.
4. Host Responsibilities
To ensure accurate airspace mapping, we ask that you:
- Keep the Device powered on and connected to your Wi-Fi network.
- Place the Device in a recommended location (e.g., near a window or with a clear view of the surrounding sky).
- Do Not Tamper: You agree not to modify, open, reverse-engineer, or tamper with the Device's hardware, software, or firmware.
5. Returns & Discontinuation
- If you move, change internet providers, or no longer wish to participate in the program, please notify us.
- Upon request, DroneSight will provide a prepaid shipping label so you can return the Device at no cost to you.
6. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability
The Device is provided on an "as is" basis for public safety and airspace awareness. DroneSight is
not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your hosting or
operation of the Device.
